Airport Transfer

If you’re lucky, your hotel may offer an airport transfer service. Otherwise, you can book a shuttle in advance or at the airport. I would recommend going through a trusted source such as Viator or Booking.com to arrange for an advance shuttle from the airport to your accommodation.

UBER: My preferred method of transportation in Brazil is Uber. Uber is safe, clean, and cheap in Brazil, and therefore highly recommended. I never had to wait more than 1-2 minutes for a driver to arrive, and all of the cars I rode in had air conditioning.

TAXI: At bus terminals and airports, you’ll see kiosks touting various taxi services. You’ll have to pay in advance, so there’s no guessing about the price. On the streets, you can hail a taxi or ask where the nearest taxi rank is. After dark, it’s advisable to call for what’s termed a radio taxi.

Metro

Sao Paulo Metro: The São Paulo metro is great for tourists and really organized, safe, clean and practical. You can go almost anywhere in the city with the six metro lines. The most central and touristy areas like Jardins, Vila Mariana, Vila Madalena, Pinheiros, Liberdade, and Paraíso are easy to get to by metro. Don’t worry, it’s very easy to use and you’ll feel comfortable using it!

Rio de Janeiro Metro:  The Rio de Janeiro metro is air-conditioned, safe, and clean, with three different lines that go to different areas of the city. Additionally, women have the option to use exclusive wagons during busy times in Rio de Janeiro.
