When to visit

Vietnam is a beautiful country, stretching over 1,600 kms. The climate varies greatly from north to south, with both temperate and tropical climates.

North Vietnam (Hanoi + Halong Bay) During summer months (May to August), it can get hot and humid. Spring (March to April) and autumn (September to November) are great months to travel, with generally warm and sunny days.

South Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh City + Mekong Delta), you will experience warm and pleasant temperatures all year round. The dry season runs from December to May while the rainy season runs from June to November. Do not let the idea of rain discourage you, as it usually comes in short bursts. In fact, the monsoon season is known for its stunning photography opportunities thanks to the dramatic thunderheads and vibrant green rice fields.

Stay Connected

MOBILE:  Check with your local cell phone provider to see if they offer a international plan.

SIM CARD:  You can pick up a pre-paid SIM card at the International Airports in Vietnam, or visit a local mobile provider or even a convenience store while in Vietnam.  Check with your provider to ensure that your phone is unlocked, or you will not be able to insert a pre-paid SIM.  *Note that you may need to show your passport for SIM card purchase.

eSIM: Another option for WiFi is purchasing an eSIM if your mobile phone supports it.  After verifying, look for your destination and purchase a plan through an international provider, such as Holafly.

POWER CONVERSION:  Electricity supply in Vietnam is 220 Volts at 50Hz.  Plug Type A (two flat vertical pins), Type C and Type F (two round pins) fit into most Vietnam outlets.  If you need to us a 3 pin plug, you will need to use a travel adapter, as most electrical outlets in Vietnam do not include grounding holes.

When planning a trip to Vietnam, I advise that you kindly consult your nearest Vietnamese Embassy or Consulate for information regarding entry visa requirements and customs procedures specific to your country of origin. It is important to note that entry and exit conditions can be subject to change with little notice, and we encourage you to stay up-to-date on the latest regulations to make your travel experience as hassle-free as possible.

Vaccination Requirements

As of July 2023, Vietnam has lifted COVID-19 related entry requirements.

Some vaccines are recommended for Vietnam. The National Travel Health Network and Centre and WHO recommend the following vaccinations for Vietnam: hepatitis A, hepatitis B, typhoid, Japanese encephalitis, rabies, cholera, and tetanus.

Travelers should also take steps to avoid mosquito bites. Antimalarials are highly recommended when visiting rural areas.

Local Customs

The country of Vietnam has a rich cultural heritage, and we want to share some tips to ensure you have a comfortable and enjoyable stay. The Vietnamese people appreciate simple gestures, such as respecting their values of humility, restraint, and modesty. It would be best to avoid showing off wealth or being overly boastful, and refrain from public displays of affection. When visiting temples and religious sites, dressing conservatively and keeping your body covered is appreciated. Although Vietnamese people are too polite to confront someone who is dressed inappropriately, we recommend being respectful and keeping a tidy appearance.

Tipping:  There is no need to tip as it is not part of the culture, although there may be a possibility of a service charge in upscale restaurants.

By taking a little time to learn about and respect Vietnamese etiquette, you’ll be able to fully enjoy all that this amazing country has to offer!
