In the foothills of Corcovado, you will find the Parque Lage Mansion. On a clear day, you can see the Christ The Redeemer statue overlooking the pool (my visit was on a rainy day 🙃)
Built in 1811, and revamped in 1920 by owner and architect Mario Vodret. His style was quite different, mixing trends of the time, framing his works within the period of art called eclectic. Vodrets Italian opera singer, wife Gabriella Besanzoni, would perform on the terrace overlooking the pool).
Today, the estate is owned by the city of Rio de Janiero. There is a cafe with seating around the pool, and also a small art gallery located in a smaller building on the grounds. A nice way to spend an afternoon on your way down from visiting Jesus on the top of Corcovado.
