After landing, the first thing passengers often do is turn on their phones. If you have an eSIM or an international plan, you’re good to go. Otherwise, if you plan to buy a SIM card at any of the airports in Vietnam, you may need to use the airport WIFI. International travelers usually enter Vietnam through Hanoi (HAN), Ho Chi Minh City (SGN), or Da Nang (DAD) International airports.

HANOI: To access the free WIFI at Hanoi airport, search for networks and look for “Noi Bai Airport Free Wi-Fi,” fill in your details, and connect. The most significant advantage of the free WIFI at Hanoi is that there is no time limit.

HO CHI MINH:  the free WIFI is available at both domestic and international terminals and is called “FreeWifi TanSonNhat Airport or “TSN Free Wifi Express.”

DA NANG: switch on your device and select the network “Maltairport Wi-Fi” connects you to the free WIFI.

Entry Procedures

When planning a trip to Vietnam, we advise that you kindly consult your nearest Vietnamese Embassy or Consulate for information regarding entry visa requirements and customs procedures specific to your country of origin. It is important to note that entry and exit conditions can be subject to change with little notice, and we encourage you to stay up-to-date on the latest regulations to make your travel experience as hassle-free as possible.

Currency/ ATM

The Vietnamese dong is the official currency of Vietnam, abbreviated as VND. It’s illegal in Vietnam to list prices or demand payment in any other currency. You can find currency exchange counters at major Vietnamese international airports where you can exchange your cash for a fee.  However, it’s advisable to avoid these counters and use airport ATMs instead.

ATMs at the airport are typically located in both the arrival and departure areas. To be certain, it’s better to ask your bank in advance or use ATM locators before you leave your home country.  Be sure to contact your bank and credit card issuers and inform them of your travel plans to avoid any issues with your account while abroad.
